New Members

Lawn Bowls is a game that only takes a few minutes to learn, but a lifetime to master.

New members are always welcome and you will receive a free course of tuition from one of our coaches as part of your initiation.

Further information can be obtained by contacting our Club Secretary Sue McClellan telephone 01245 471576  or through our Contact Us page or by completing and submitting a Membership Form.

We are sure you will have many questions, but the answers to a few initial ones are given below:

How Much Does It Cost to Play?

Membership fees are set each year at our AGM. These give members unlimited free access to the green for roll ups and club events. There is a small charge for friendly matches to cover the costs of refreshments etc.

Do I need special clothing?

This is not required during your tuition, but you will need comfortable clothes and flat soled trainers or shoes.
Once membership is confirmed you will as a minimum require, proper bowling shoes, grey trousers (men) or trousers/skirt/cropped trousers (women) and other clothes such as sweaters and waterproofs. These are available locally at the Falcon Bowling Club Shop or any number of on-line stores.

Do I need my own bowls?

Again these are not required during your tuition as the Club has several sets for this purpose. Your coach will be able to advise you on the appropriate size and type of bowls that will suit you best. Once you become a member you are encouraged to acquire either a new or second hand set of bowls from the above sources.

What are my Commitments as a Member?
The Club relies on members making some sort of contribution to the running of the Club. Without this help we would be unable to keep membership fees down to reasonable levels. The contribution is normally in the form of helping on one of the rotas for clubhouse cleaning, refreshments or staffing the bar.
